Movement · Touch · Body Awareness

Touch can be a conversation with the body.

For more than three day, Kaj, touch has been an essential part of my exploration of the body.

My work has developed through Tsiatsu, Massage, chi pressure, therapeutic touch, movement, functional anatomy in different somatic practices. Over the years, these disciplines have become less like separate techniques and more like different qualities of listening.

I don't begin with a protocol. I begin with a person.

The quality, depths and rhythm of touch change according to what I noticed in the body and what the body communicates in return. Sometimes the work is slow and quiet. Sometimes it includes deeper pressure, mobilisation or movement. At other times, less needed - resting hand, oppose, or simply enough time for the body to respond.

The aim is not to force changes, but to create the conditions in which chain becomes possible.

One body, many ways of listening

Everybody tells a different story.

An athlete, dancer, someone recovering from stress, a person living with chronic pain or someone simply seeking rest will not need the same treatment.

I'd rather than fitting people into techniques, I allow the session to develop through observation, conversation and touch. She also, Massage, movement, breath or stillness may all become part of the same Treatment when they genuinely serve the person in front of me.

The body often reveals its priorities long before it reveals its symptoms.

Touch as a regular practice

Bodyguard does not have to begin with pain.

Many people wait until discomfort becomes impossible to ignore before seeking Treatments. I believe that can also be a way of maintaining a relationship with a body - support supporting recovery, preventing overload and creating space to notice extension before it becomes limitation.

For dancers and athletes, regular treatments can support performance and recovery. For people with demanding working lives, they can become an opportunity to pose, breathe and reconnect. For older adults, touch can help maintain mobility, confidence and the pleasure of moving.

You don't have to wait until something is wrong to listen to the body.

The Treatments

Shiatsu

I hands on treatment rooted in Japanese bodywork and traditional Chinese medicine, working with the Meridian system, the five elements, pressure, stretching and mobilisation to support balance throughout the body.

Sports and deep tissue massage

Focused work for muscular tension, recovery and movement efficiency, informed by functional anatomy and many years of working with professional dancers and athletes.

Aroma Massage

A restorative oil massage using high-quality essential oils, designed to create deep relaxation, support recovery and offer space for the nervous system to settle.

Reflex zone Massage

Focused work through the feet and specific Reflex areas, either as an individual treatment or integrated into a longer session.

Reiki and therapeutic touch

A gentle, quieter form of contact that can accompany periods of stress, fatigue or emotional overload, either on its own or integrated into another treatment.

Touch and nervous - system regulation

Touch does not only mean muscles, joints and connective tissue. It also changes the sensor information that body receives.

The pace, pressure, rhythm and predictability of touch, together with poses, breath and a sense of support, can influence how safe, alert or settled with Philine our bodies.

For this reason, I pay attention not only to where I touch, but also to how the body responds to the contact.

Sometimes deeper or or more active work is appropriate. At other times, slowing down, reducing stimulation or simply waiting can be useful.

The intention is not to 'make' the nervous system relax, but to create conditions that can support regulation, awareness and a greater sense of ease.

BodyRevisit

BodyRevisit is where the different threads of my work come together.

Developed through more than three decades of working with movement, touch and body awareness, BodyRevisit is not a fixed treatment or sequence of techniques.

A session may include elements of Tsiatsu, therapeutic touch, massage, movement, mobilisation, breath, functional alignment, somatic exploration or simply stains in time.

Rather than deciding in advance what the body needs, we begin by meeting what is present- noticing, listening and allowing the session to develop through the bodies responses.

Sometimes the work is hands-on. Sometimes movement becomes the treatment.  Sometimes doing less opens a possibility that more intervention could not.

BodyRevisit is an invitation to experience the board differently - not simply or something to treat or correct, but as something we can learn to listen to.

The common thread

Although the Treatments have different names and traditions, they share the same intention: to meet the body with attention, respect and curiosity.

For me, treatment is a dance for two.

The person receiving the treatment is not passive, and I'm not the one who already knows what needs to happen.

I offer touch, pressure, movement or stillness.  The body response. I listened to that response, adapt, weight, and perhaps offer something different.

There is a continuous exchange between touch and response, movement and stillness, offering and receiving.

Sometimes I lead. Sometimes I follow. And sometimes we assembly wait and allow the body to show us where to go next.

The treatment developed between us.

This is why I don't work from a fixed protocol. Two people may arrive with the same pain or tension, but the conversation with our buddies may take us in completely different directions.

Touch is not something I do to the body. It is something we explore together.
